We look forward to being your local electric provider.  Steuben Rural Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit utility, dedicated to providing reliable electric service and excellent member service.

 

Becoming a Member

Steuben Rural Electric Cooperative (SREC) is a member-owned electric cooperative dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric service to our communities.

To establish electric service with SREC, all applicants must:

  • Complete a Membership Application
  • Pay a $25 membership fee
  • Pay a security deposit, if applicable

Membership applications can be obtained by:

  • Downloading and printing the form from the Member Forms page
  • Visiting one of our office locations
  • Calling our office at (607) 776-4161 or (800) 843-3414

Existing Service Location

An existing service location is a property where electric service has been connected previously and a meter is already installed. This includes situations such as a change of tenants or ownership.

To establish service at an existing location, please provide:

  • The service address where the meter is located, or
  • The meter number

This information will help our Member Services Representatives identify the correct account and process your request efficiently.

Please note: If electric service has been disconnected for one year or longer, an electrical inspection may be required before service can be reconnected. Please refer to our list of approved electrical inspectors for more information. The list is on our Member Forms page.

New Service Location

A new service location is a property where electric service has never been installed.

If you are planning to build a new home, install a new service, or need electric service at a location that has never had electricity, please contact our Line Department before construction begins.
