Steuben Rural Electric Cooperative knows that our members occasionally fall on hard times.  If you are having a difficult time paying your bill because you recently lost your job or are dealing with unforeseen illness or another issue out of your control, please contact the office at (607)776-4161 or (800)843-3414.

Depending on the status of your account, you might be eligible for a payment arrangement.  We've also compiled a list of government and charitable organizations in our region that offer assistance with utility bills, if their conditions are met.  We encourage members to contact them to determine resources that may be available.  The assistance programs are listed below:

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) can help eligible New Yorkers heat and cool their homes.  Questions regarding the HEAP program should be directed to your HEAP Local District Contact or the OTDA Hotline at (800)342-3009.  
 
Regular HEAP is now closed. Emergency HEAP, including a second emergency benefit, are available through August 30th or until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
 

 

Payment Arrangements

Are you having trouble paying your electric bill?  If you know you cannot pay your electric bill by the due date.
